I don't think there are rules because this tyre was on there without any MOT issues since 2003. But I had assumed by now they'd all been replaced due to punctures etc. over the years with the ones on the passenger side replaced more. Note I did not drive the car at all at first and was not on the insurance but added so when it needed petrol I'd go to fill it But this rear one must have been replaced in 2003. And with a Pirelli! Why did I do that!?!? I can only assume it was because we serviced it at FIAT when under warranty. When I checked pressures recently I noticed some cracks in the tyre wall. It would be an MOT failure and it would take a few days to get a tyre of this size in. I think 165/55R13 is pretty uncommon and wonder why FIAT chose it.

I changed two tyres on my Civic before we went on our summer European odyssey, because the date stamp was 2016, i.e. they were original fitment. With the car approaching 30k miles at the time, and there still having been plenty of even tread on them (but a bit of cracking was appearing on the edges), it spoke volumes about the longevity of these Bridgestones on this particular model, so I replaced like with like. I hadn't wanted to take the risk of 6 year old tyres at high speed for long periods, but they were due for replacement on the age basis anyway.

Rolled over 5,000 miles this week. Way faster than I was expecting due to using my car more frequently if we go out as a couple and also making several unexpected but ultimately successful trips to the south Lakes to look at a holiday place more local than 2,500 miles away.
Previous impressions of the car remain valid. Energy use depends mainly on speed and type of driving and the opposite of an ICE vehicle. Around suburban Manchester a range of 300 miles is achievable, on the motorway at an indicated 75mph it is to nearer to 230 miles. Extremes of heat and cold will affect these figures but we rarely get such extremes here.
Nothing else to say. I am still very happy with it. I would not go back to an ICE car other than to journey into areas without reliable charging infrastructure. I need to go to Cornwall later this year and have no hesitation about taking it - all you have to do is plan and that takes ten minutes.

Good work, Esp. I’m seeing superfast chargers in more and more places now, most recently in the Oxford Park & Ride car park I used yesterday. Each one makes that planning a little easier. And 230 miles means that most day trips need no planning at all. The future is already here.

I wish "they'd" hurry up and get the charging infrastructure along the M4 sorted out. It's still absolutely appalling and puts me off taking the Leaf to Carmarthen.

I had a last minute trip to London on Monday. I left with 90% charge and got to the Milton Keynes coach station just off the M1 where there are some decent Ionity chargers, with 20% remaining. I parked up next to a Tesla S, Merc EQC and a Jag i-Pace. All were charging up when I plugged in. I unplugged 20 minutes later with 85%. The other three cars were still there.
Just goes to show the advantage of a fast charging car. And Ionity costs 25p/kWh for me at the moment.
The downside of Milton Keynes is that it costs 30p to 'spend a penny'. The reverse journey took me to Rugby services which are lovely and free, but the Gridserve charges are slower (125kW max delivered compared to 180kW max delivered at MK) and 40% were out of service. Thankfully I was the only car present when I arrived.

Next long trip is to Cornwall from Manchester and back along the south coast and into London before home via Reading and Warwick. That will take a bit of planning but I have now downloaded the Tesla app so there are a couple of expensive chargers I can use if strictly necessary.

The South Coast is a desert when it comes to car chargers. Particularly small coastal resort towns. Absolutely baffles me. Do the local councils not want to encourage day trippers?

Even progressively-minded Brighton wasn’t an easy place to charge in July 2021. And yes, the Bungalow Coast around Seaford and Eastbourne had nothing at all that we could find. Not sure day trippers are really a thing there. People arrive in a Jazz and leave, 20 years later, in a box. 💀

I do enjoy a day trip to the south coast, even tatty old tips like Bognor, Littlehampton, Hayling. Particularly on bright bracing winter days. Love a walk along the front and a fish'n'chip lunch.

Been having meetings with my money man, and we have concluded that I can comfortably shake off the shackles of having to work for a living next June. So, 8 months to go… I can do that! How much are Honda Jazzes and horizontally striped polo shirts anyway? 😎

Hoping I can build up the retirement resources enough before then to do a bit of studying / retraining and shift into something less corporate-drony. Coincidentally, I’ve just got online access to one of my three pension providers, and the fund has increased by a scant 8 percent in the three years they’ve had my money. But then the FTSE 100 has actually decreased by 5 percent over the same period, so perhaps they’re doing me some good after all.

I think my days as a driving god are over.
I have never driven a car where I have nudged the front bumper so much and caused so much damage. The front of the car is pretty much invisible from the drivers seat and I have caused what is probably £100s in minor scrapes and dings etc. The front bumper is a mix of several panels of differing materials (painted plastic, metal coated plastic, internally illuminated clear plastic etc etc) and I suspect the cost of replacing and painting a new front assembly will be scrotum crushingly expensive.
Maybe I should look out for a rear ended Ioniq 5 at a scrap yard and keep it in storage for when I hand the car back. Rather disappointing really.
