A friend of mine had two, or maybe even 3 Zafiras during his breeding years. Good grief! How much breeding did he do?

Not interested in this car (too expensive), but I was interested by the seller's description. www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202203033153141The bit about not selling any cars to anyone who has a part exchange, because of low stock levels and shortages of cars. What? WTF? Surely they'd be more pleased to take a part exchange in those circumstances and have something else to sell on? Makes absolutely zero sense to me. Am I missing something abvious?

Yes, it’s the other way round, isn’t it? Unless you have a part exchange they won’t sell to you.
This means that for customers who DO NOT HAVE A PART-EXCHANGE the purchase of this vehicle will be only available if we have sufficient stock levels to meet our customers demands.
Rather suggests that they find part exchange cars cost them less than buying stock from auctions.

Oh yeah, they've worded the first sentence badly. You could read it either way. I, inevitably, read it the wrong way.
"Due to a national stock shortage and lack of availability of new and used cars,IJC are temporarily restricting sales to customers who don't have a vehicle to part exchange. This means that for customers who DO NOT HAVE A PART-EXCHANGE the purchase of this vehicle will be only available if we have sufficient stock levels to meet our customers demands."
Interesteing sign of the times then, haven't seen that anywhere else. Kind of lends justification to the very high valuations I was getting for my Civic from the online buying sites.

For what little it’s worth, we had an Insignia diesel auto on the company fleet a while back. It was pretty good until the gearbox went.
But, maybe that was just a random thing.

I thought you'd run a Signum at some stage, maybe a 2.2 petrol, hence my comment. I recall you ran a thread called "Signum Rambles" on what must have then been the HJ forum.

Yes I did, only kept it for about 9 months, kept letting me down. Ate fuel pumps as I recall. Also the central locking kept jamming on locked. Quite a nice thing to drive when it was behaving though.

The good old 1980s, when things were so uncomplicated.
1989. The more I see of the 2020s, the more I like 1989.

Should have bought a nice 2011 Champagne (sorry metallic beige) E350CDi from a dodgy bloke in north Manchester, Al. Would have solved all your problems and mine in one go!

That thought hadn’t entirely passed me by Espada. In fact, on reflection, it might have been a good shout for me too, it might have made some sense for me to buy it from you as well. Not to replace my own car necessarily, but as a spare/back up sort of thing.

Well sadly as I said at the time it was a few grand out of budget for me. I'm also a bit, you know, twitchy about Es with air suspension for obvious reasons.

I know Al - it was said tongue in cheek. At least I have confidence in my rear end as it was totally renewed in August 2019. I miss that car and the sheer effortlessness of driving it. It has the best automatic gear selector ever designed which makes manoeuvering in tight spots so easy. So much easier than waggling a stick between the seats and pressing a pedal...
For those of you of a certain age, I think I am becoming the reincarnation of George Bishop of Car and blessed memory.
