They are jolly good cars, cracking value for money. But they are rare, autos are even rarer, petrol autos have a weedy engine, and all of that sadly means they aren't the answer to my existing conundrum. A 1.6 diesel auto estate, ULEZ friendly, would do the job, but they are vanishingly rare, and when they appear they're out of my current budget. And the autos are DCTs in the diesel, which brings me back to DPFs, DMFs, ERGs, QPRs, etc.
I love the saloons - only ever available in the UK with the even weedier 95hp 1.4 petrol, and manual transmission though. Would be a great car for a youngster...very low insurance group.

I had a look on AT just now at a manual 1.6 diesel one. 76 mpg claimed. Blimey

Meh. A mere detail.
(You can't seriously have thought I was intending to buy it? Just posted for interest...)

The Typo estate I had in 1.4 auto guise in Greece a few years ago was okay. Certainly an upgrade to what I had paid for. But...
The 1.4 non-turbo engine was underpowered for sure and it had little get up and go. And the heating controls stopped working.... basically on full all the time! And okay car. And available in brown although the one I had was white.

Yeah the 95bhp 1.4 is to be avoided at all costs I think. Which is a shame as it's the only option in the saloon here. I like saloons. I particualrly like FIAT saloons. I like brown saloons too.
All the other engines appear fine, I had a diesel estate on rental once in Italy/Slovenia, I'm not sure if it was 1.3 or 1.6 but if it was 1.3 it was more than adequate. It was so good though, even when fully loaded, I think it must have been the 1.6. I'd be well happy with a 1.6 diesel auto estate, I think they must all be ULEZ compliant too. None on sale in the UK at this time.

Here you are, Vić. Spotted in Woodstock this afternoon. Seems perfect. ✅ Petrol ✅ Manual ✅ Saloon ✅ Japanese ✅ No DMF — or much of anything else ✅ Fully depreciated ✅ 300 years old ✅ Brown — or heading that way

Might well be driving something like that around in the next few weeks. Just got an email from my energy supplier gleefully inviting me to increase my monthly DD by £100 to cover the increases coming from 1st April, and warning me of another 50%+ rise in October, so I can expect to be paying £450 a month for gas and leccy by then. Kind of re-focuses the mind on the £200 a month for the Civic to do very little.

Ouch. That’ll be most of us, then. I didn’t look closely enough to see if the old Nissan had been parked on that corner as a sales pitch.

What is it ? My first thought was a Stanza or an old Mazda 626. It's got too much curve to be a Bluebird.

It’s a Nissan Stanza. I’d forgotten it came as a saloon as well as a five-door. Has badges and everything. Is a Bluebird even less curvy?

Nissan: Hello, is that LEGO ? We've tried a collaboration with Alfa Romeo, didn't work out. Can you design a family saloon for us please. LEGO:

I hadn't realised how similar the Accord and the Stanza are. I'd never spot the difference without reading the name plate.
