Would have preferred an auto myself, that would have been epically drouthy, neebor.

So would I, now anyway, but back then, much of our driving was on fast, empty, hilly, A and B roads. A manual just suited those conditions better. Modern traffic levels and cameras etc would take the edge off any fun factor now.

I saw a blue 1983 Granada saloon on my way round Coventry on Saturday. Still a handsome car (which the Scorpio generation was not) but strikingly small, as most old ‘big’ cars seem these days. Probably a similar footprint to a BMW 3 saloon, and weighing a lot less.
Saw a MkIV Cortina a few minutes later. Coincidence? Or some kind of event nearby?

I guess we have all got used to how big cars have got, mine won't fit in a standard sized single garage. Maybe that's why it has a sunroof, so you can get in and out of it if you do try to park it in one. 😉

You'd only bang your head on the ladders or whatever else has been stored up there in Meccano framed shelving. Possibly a roofbox on a roofbox lift in a mock Tudor hice.

It's raining (never view a car in the rain) and work got a bit busy, I've put it off until Saturday when I can do it in a more relaxed manner.

In other news, only £1,345 for the Aygo. Surprisingly sensible for a near-12-year old biscuit tin, so not everything has gone stratospheric. It has 7/8 of a tank of unleaded in it, though, which may move the needle a bit.
Just back from a tip run, more for the sake of an outing (for me and the car) than anything pressing. Roads were awful; standing water everywhere, fallen branches and big stones washed off the fields. I felt vindicated for those four new Continentals in June.

I've been offered nearly GBP4k for an almost 11 year old, 86k mile Volvo S60 D3. I would snap their hand off but can't be 'arrisd re-registering it. That's almost double what I got for the S60 D5 in 2013. I'll just keep it and sell the Penta 5 cylinder engine to a boat yard when I'm done. They can use it as a motor or anchor, not my concern.
