…dummy insurance quote with named provisional licence driver on that coming in at £420 a year. OK, I can stomach that, not huge amounts more than I pay now. But then when he passes I think he'll have to have that 3rd car in a low insurance group because as I said main driver with full licence on either a Leaf or a Mazda 6 is getting close to £3k a year. Yep. If it helps, equivalent amounts for the Aygo (admittedly not domiciled in Mad Max country) were £186 and about £1,200.

I've rung the dealer with the blue Mazda 6, they've still got it. I might pop down for a look if I get time tomorrow lunchtime.

Humph won't like the Mazda6 TS2 - you needed the sport for the sunroof. I went for the sport model because it also got Xeon headlights.

Reading about all these inflated used car prices it will be interesting to hear how hard they chip anyone actually looking to take up an offer.
These companies rarely pay what they initially offer I'm interested in how meticulous they are about wheels, trim, paint when it comes down to cold, hard cash.

...And surely the price bubble has to burst soon? Demand has to level off at some point: rising cost of living, winter fuel bills, Christmas to budget for,... and surely at some point everybody who fancied a change of car has gone and done it?!

You’ve clearly not read that Christmas is off this year. Either that or it’s one big national Christmas in a distribution centre in Daventry.

I probably need a car short term from April next year - not sure how long it will be for. Greece plans are in progress but nothing sorted by any means.

These companies rarely pay what they initially offer I'm interested in how meticulous they are about wheels, trim, paint when it comes down to cold, hard cash. In my case, I have submitted an honest description, including the one scuffed alloy and the scratches and marks which exist around the car. Also sent in several pictures. The valuation and offer is based on those, so I don't expect an argument. If I take up the offer (highest one now is £12,100, from an approved Honda dealer), they will send a truck to collect it, and transfer the money at that point. I don't think I'll be getting the WBAC treatment.

I had local management like that, steel wheels and plastic hub caps never a mark, expensive alloys = kerb magnets. After grinding half the rim off a Volvo Ixion alloy and wheel protector of a Continental tyre and seeing the price of the replacement she stopped hitting kerbs.

Many years ago, I had a Granada 4x4 2.9 Ghia X ( not too shabby eh eh? )
Anyway, we lived deep in the Scottish Borders at the time and one day Mrs H got a puncture in it while in Edinburgh. She decided in her wisdom that as it was cold, wet and dark, she would just drive it home with a flat tyre...
As you can imagine, I didn't fail to point out how stupid, dangerous, expensive and irresponsible etc etc that was.
The following day was a Saturday, I was still super cross, and we took the car, now on a spacesaver, to the nearest Ford dealer to get a replacement wheel as the old one was pretty much wrecked, and on to a tyre garage to buy a new tyre.
Still fuming, on our arrival home, I took a swing into our drive a bit too rapidly and managed to scrape the paintwork on the passenger side of the car down our stone gatepost on the way in...
Silence ensued for what seemed like an eternity, until she simply couldn't hold back any longer and we both dissolved into hysterical laughter.
😬
