Had my AZ yesterday. Felt nothing unusual at first but after an hour or two, I was a bit woozy and my arm was a bit numb.
Felt slightly rubbish all afternoon, got back to something like normal by evening, but needed an early night. Just a bit more tired than normal. Anyway, right as rain this morning.
Hadn't expected that reaction, but apparently it's not unheard of.

Odd they'd let you wait in a car alone. I don't think that's the norm - okay if you're with someone. I assume you've had the Pfizer vaccine then? The vaccine was Astra Zeneca but we were advised to wait 15 minutes anyway. There were chairs in the centre, the usual wipe clean utilitarian plastic jobbies. They were OK with people waiting in their cars with a fallback of sounding your horn to summon a Marshall. I guess the theory is that you won't just go immediately unconscious but will feel odd and wobbly first.

A centre near us doing jabs, they wouldn't let people sit in their car to wait the 15 minutes alone after the Pfizer one. They had to sit in the waiting room. I don't know what happened on the days they were using the AZ one.

So my experience yesterday was one of queuing for about 20 minutes outside before I got inside the building where I was checked in by a person who gave me a sheet of paper with my details and a blank vaccination card. I then joined another queue to go into the vaccination hall. Once in a booth, they took various details, a bit of triage and then jabbed me.
As I was driving I had a sticker attached to me and had to sit in a special zone until I was permitted to leave after 15 minutes. Not actively checked on but people around monitoring generally and no one could leave without being told to do so. Astra Zeneca vaccine. Whole thing took under an hour including the journey to and from home.
Yesterday evening I felt more tired than usual for a Friday night and that's without my usual wine/whisky/beer. Also felt a little sore in the back reminiscent of the flu but ibuprofen took that away. Same this afternoon but felt ok by tonight.

I see the NHS is now saying those aged 56+ can now book on the website - but I did for my wife yesterday already... But what happened to at risk group 8 which is those 55-59? We've left off the 55 year olds.
I nearly got the appointment for tomorrow but they had gone by the time I'd completed all the details. Not sure what hours the Etihad Tennis Centre operates on the weekend but we decided to drive there to have a rough idea how long it takes, road works that might be (some might be only in the week but we know about those now), etc. So drove into/out of the car park later today and it was pretty much deserted... Not sure how many are going there!

Mrs A has now received an invite and has booked in. I'm the same age and same GP, but no invite for me still.

Are you aged 56+? I thought you were younger.

I just turned 51 a few weeks ago, Mrs A is still 50 until next month. Looks like our local mass vaccination centre has accelerated things around here.

MrsB1, 53 and six weeks older than me, still hasn’t had her call, despite her frequent flyer card at the GPs’ when I seldom trouble them. Which supports my thought that my couple of flu cases, of which neither put me in hospital and the last was in 2012, have put me on some secret Special Measures list. Still, mustn’t grumble, eh?

Yes I think my GP might have sorted the excel spreadsheet to prioritise some folks based on records, Mrs A having been through cancer twice might have that effect, although I would have thought my asthma might have elevated me a bit. Other than that, maybe it's just random. Or, she's slightly above me alphabetically on first name...

It does appear to be random once you have reached the band for general 'call up'. On Friday night in the synagogue there were at least seven of us who had been vaccinated in the previous nine hours. All of us six aged 56 - 59. The day before only I had received a message to book. Turns out that the other got a text that evening and some were booked in for 0845 the next morning. Four different doctors surgeries involved and two different vaccination places.

Anyone who has had cancer regardless of age were meant to be done the same time as the 65+ group I think.
My wife's letter arrived today - which was a waste of money. They should have made it known like they did you could book if you're over 56 and then in a couple of weeks sent letters to those who hadn't got the vaccine or at least booked an appointment. NHS also should have used SMS before letters IMO.

NZ seems to have decided to use the Pfizer vaccine only, with more doses ordered yesterday. No time frame for the mass inoculation drive to start yet though...
Of course the as yet unspoken risk must be that the EU blocks and retains the export shipments for their own stockpiles 😬.

Well they have blotted their copy book --. If they are not using all the AZ stuff let someone have it who wants to use it. Macron and Merkle have been found out as jingoistic nationalists making Boris look statesmanlike.. And that is pretty hard even as a supporter..
If Trump did what Macron did there would be worldwide outcry; but because he's French and a lefty no one says anything.
