I kind of do too. It'll wear off I suppose. But, if my straw hat, hammock etc plan were ever to... 🤔

Yes - it is peppy. The garage is on a road which leads out of our town up into the West Pennine Moors, so once through the next village it is a long slow hill up to the top. I was expecting the car to need third gear to get up, but it took it in fifth and even had enough torque to feel very comfortable doing it. Modern cars are so good compared to those a decade older. The Punto performs well but is noisy and very basic. This is smooth, quiet, comfortable with a/c, cruise, reversing sensors, electric heated mirrors, fog lights, alloys etc. Here it is Ibiza VistaI see it's the 74bhp MPI. Easier on the insurance. Pretty much the same car as the Fabia loaner I had recently from the bodyshop, which I enjoyed hugely in town. I'd probably get away with an Ibiza or Fabia estate, or the Rapid/Toledo hatches which were derived from them, as a family car. However when you go up to the 1.4 TSI the insurance starts getting silly for a small car. Hope the lad gets on with it, no reason to think he won't. DCR too - the colour of champions. So it looks like everyone has gone for sensible, safe choices for their offspring. I suppose it's up to me to get something exciting, as usual. Just going to pick the phone up about that Hyundai Coupe then.

DCR? What sort of red?
No one ever called a 1.6 Hyundai Coupe exciting....

I had to ask that question last time he used that acronym. Let's just say he seems to be fascinated by canine undercarriages... 😫

Have to confess, Al’s Hyundai is quite appealing to me. Can’t explain why though. Looks like a lot of car for the money. Bit different to the norm too. And probably because I am accustomed to seeing questionable Asian vehicles of indeterminate age - NZ is full of them.

Just looked at the ad for the Hyundai again. I do sort of get it I suppose. But I couldn't do it. However, in fairness to it, it is a pretty classy thing for its current location... 😉

The mileage suggests the first owner lacked the ambition to get out of Doncaster.

Anyone famous came from Doncaster?
Three of the back four last night are from Sheffield and Barnsley.

Pretty sure he doesn't have a Hyundai coupe though. Just by way of a bit of automotive trivia, I wonder what the actual demographic is for such things?
Divorced, middle aged men on a tight budget, desperately trying to look as if this was the life they always wanted perhaps? Blousey pub landladies? Hard to say really. Any theories?
I kind of get Toyota GT86s though.

"People who fancy one", that would just about cover it.

Well, to combine two equally fruitless directions of conversational travel, wouldn't that also apply to the inexorable rise in the popularity of SUVs?
