Not a problem, he has bike racks permanently on the roof.

Handy if he’s blocked you in and gone off with the key, I suppose. You can just pick the car up by the roof bars.

Or open the tailgate and use it as a wheelbarrow I suppose. All manner of possibilities.

A cousin of mine also has a lad turning 17 later this year - they've just happened across a used car for him through some work contact of theirs. It's a 64 reg, red Alfa Mito, in pristine condition, low miles, all the good stuff. Samllest engine and lowest possible insurance group. Bargain buy, distress sale for some reaosn or other. They've sent me some photos this morning and I are envy.

Who would have thought it. I've just had a look and yes, it makes sense and Son #1 likes the idea... Also it is really the same as a Punto so basic mechanicals should be solid.

Not a problem, he has bike racks permanently on the roof. This made me think that it’s a use to which Boy1 and I might put our Aygo, especially if he wants to go out solo once he has his licence. (I don’t think we’ll be putting a towbar on it.) I have two Thule bike carriers that I used on the square-section Volvo bars (and, I think, on the slotted aluminium bars we had with the Verso) so it’s just a question of appropriate crossbars for the Aygo. What hardware do you have on yours?

The smaller Alfas get, the more irredeemably stupid that misplaced front number plate looks.

Can't say it remotely bothers.

However there is a stupidly priced one for £6,000 (near Manchester) in a beautiful deep metallic red/black "Metallic Etna Black/Nero" that is just jaw dropping.

That's OK then, and we're not choosing these things on looks anyway.

I might be stupid but I'm not that stupid....
Not paying £6,000 for an eight year old two cylinder car with 49,000 miles no matter how nice it is.

Cruz aero bars on the Aygo WDB. Can't remember them being all that expensive. Think I got them from "Roofbox" online. Anyway, I put them on as soon as he started learning so that gave another reason for him to drive if we were going for an MTB trip together. It'll (just) take two bikes on top. Looks a bit top heavy with bikes up there but it copes well enough on a dash over the border into Wales. Never taken the racks off in the 4 years + they've been on the car. Fairly quiet at legal speeds, but whistle a bit if you get too enthusiastic, but then again it's a sort of audible warning that you might want to check the speedometer !
