Diving off on a tangent ( who me? ) I try to set car seat heights ( if that's an option ) and rake so that my eyes are level with the horizontal centre line of the windscreen. I find that still allows me to see the bonnet, but I don't have to look around the rear view mirror.

Yep, the local Legacy estate has aftermarket wheels, very very very very dark grey. The car is light met blue.
