Do all the ongoing evacuations and repatriation flights imply that people think things are going to get worse? Surely Tel Aviv and the rest of the country are safe under the iron dome?

But you have to retaliate otherwise it simply goes on for ever. I’ve started and rejected a dozen replies to this. None worked, so I’ll just leave it isolated in its absurdity. Perhaps we should go back to using this thread for actual holidays.

I understand. This is a ridiculous situation for which there are no easy answers.
Dixi - The Iron Dome is not a panacea. It is not 100% effective.
My final word on this matter then we can return to holidays.. Hamas and Hizbollah want the total removal of Jews from the Middle East - you just have to read their constitutions and listen to the words of their supporters yesterday at the demonstrations to confirm that.
This means ethnic cleansing of the worst kind and does not involve mass evacuation but something else that will make the Holocaust look like a footnote of evil. And after they have come for the Jews they will come for the white West (indeed they are already at the gates of Europe). The problem is that the white West doesn't realise it, although thankfully most of the sensible politicians do.

Heard anything about your Mini Esp? Presumably you won’t have to pay anything extra for a longer stay at the car park? Or maybe you will? Is it coming home on a trailer, or will they put a driver in it?

No news. I know that there will be no additional charges, so I'm leaving it with LV=. Espadrille not bothered, she is happy to drive the Punto pro-tem. When it comes back, it comes back.

I imagine that it will take a week or 2 to organise, such is the way of the world these days… No flatbed or driver available until next month etc!

Edit: Gods don't kill people, people who believe in gods kill people

I blame Canada.
Which reminds me, I'd love to do a motorhome touring holiday across that country one day. Take a few months, really soak it all in. Same with Oz. Just need to get to that retirement date in one piece.

I had always fancied Australia too. However, having watched a number of travelogue films on doing that I can’t help feeling there is a lot of nothing punctuated by a few places of interest. Canada though might well be a bit more varied.

When I was 14 I drove with my parents from Calgary to Vancouver across the Rockies in a brand new from Avis, Chrysler New Yorker V8. I remember so much of that trip 45= years ago. There is a lot of stuff between those cities. Not sure there is much going east until you reach Winnipeg.
I would love to do all the islands and territories on Atlantic coast. I reckon I could take months over that.

On a whim last night booked two weeks in Italy in July. That's leaving it late by German standards. Driving back to Marinello and will visit Ferrari this time before heading down to Florence and Pisa. Trip to the coast and Cinque Terre is an option though suspect in July it will be mobbed with bloody tourists. Oh! Hang on...😁
Will be using the train for trips to Florence and Pisa, very reasonable prices and won't have the game of ZTL roulette, especially in Florence. I noticed last year some zones you can drive in the morning and not in the afternoon.
Got two nights in Edinburgh in May. Flying as a family of four adults is quite pricey these days. 😱
