Go to Wrexham at some point though. It'll make you feel so much better about where you live. Take some chopped raw meat to throw out of the car windows to keep the locals off if you get caught at any traffic lights. 😉

I've genuinely failed to "connect" with Wrexham. It has the same ambience that you can find in run-down towns just about everywhere, exacerbated by the fact that it's in Wales . Around here it is like Mansfield always has been, Worksop has become, and Newark hasn't quite reached the tipping point to. They even knocked the brewery down (though it was largely brewing lager anyway). There is some nice countryside around. The last visit to Wrexham was, just to pass a day, by train from Chirk, the surroundings of which are fine. I wished we hadn't. I don't know if you know the area round about, Dubya, but a visit to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is well worth the journey, though social distancing if you choose to walk across could be a challenge. Humph will be telling you to take your bike and visit Llandegla, next. (though be prepared to meet people even more odd then the inhabitants of Wrexham).

Don’t worry, plans are forming. In fact, we have more ideas than we’ll have time to execute in six full days. But Chester is on the list, as is Pontcysyllte, which some of us may even manage to cross on the water — although MrsB1 won’t go near it.
Boy2 has decided against Llandegla on the grounds that his bike is too suspendy for the Blue trail and not enough for the Red one. Seems a pity — when he spent last year’s holiday complaining that there weren’t enough woods to crash through — but it’s his choice.

He would have enjoyed Llandegla, pity to miss it. I'm gently disinclined to agree with his assessment. I regularly ride hardtails on either of those trails. Even the rental bikes at the visitor centre are hardtails, albeit fairly posh ones.
I'd be more wary of using your bike there. Not that it, or you for that matter, wouldn't cope of course.

However, under no circumstances, allow Mrs B to become aware of Cheshire Oaks. Do everything in your power to conceal its proximity. It can take days to recover.

That's not going to work for you if they're still not letting people in! This is your place, isn't it?

We’re just getting to the stage of life where letting out our house to Regatta contestants or spectators becomes a viable and lucrative sideline. A friend lives in a visitable part of North Yorkshire and does something similar to finance his own holidays.

Hi all, arrived safe and sound at 20.30 Saturday night. Tunnel was easy, departed on time. 1-2hr jam between Paris and Orleans, the rest was clear. Enjoyed Millau. So departed Reading at 3am, arrived Folkestone 4.50, crossing at 5.50. Arrived France 7.25, so 13 hours from there including 3 breaks for the necessaries.
There was a spelling mistake in the wifi password they gave us, only just got the right one from the rental company.
Been to Super U this morning, click and collect was a breeze. Weather is amazing but mosquito levels are a bit painful. Hey ho.
Civic went well, but after Clermont Ferrand I had to go to manual gearbox mode as it was too keen to run in third up the inclines at 5500rpm when 4th was fine. Everyone was very comfy, boot was only full under the cover so no visibility problems. Only used 2 50l tanks of unleaded. Happy camper.

Glad to hear it all went well — and that you still managed to find a niggle even with a boring old Honda. 😛
Now, forget about us and have fun.

Indeed, good to hear it was straightforward enough. Have a great time, and don't give another thought as to whether anyone actually remembered to lock the back door, or close all the upstairs windows before you left...or left a gas ring on, of course they didn't forget... 😈

Benefits of an induction hob, one less worry.
1hr 15min until lager time, that's all I'm worried about. Beer and wine chillin' in the fridge. Reading a stupid book about time travelling warships. That'll do for today.
Oh yeah, just had a half hour snooze. Lavverly. If only all Mondays could be like this.
