If I was going down that road ( and I just might one day ) I'd have a Duster 4x4. I sort of get the utility thing. Compared to the Jimney, the Duster is a bit lardy and blingy. The Jimney is certainly prettier. But, even for non-work purposes I'd prefer a bit more loadspace is all.

I think, if I ever moved to somewhere up the side of a mountain, I'd rather a second hand CRV to a new Duster.

Ah but, a second hand Duster costs about as much as a Happy Meal.

There is that, yes. My Laguna was cheap, too.

Anybody got any experience of owning/driving one of these? We had the sister car, an Auris hybrid estate. The lease ended about three months after the HRT was launched. We looked one over, it made the Auris look spacious inside. Toyota didn't light my fire, little things like the cheap, flimsy plastic under the dashboard which kept falling off, the car wouldn't start when it was for weeks old and had to go back - OK, that could happen to any car though I didn't expect it from a Japanese car which are supposed to be bomb-proof mechanically, the piece of plastic inserted in the dashboard on the passenger side supposed to look like brushed aluminium reflected like a mirror when sunlight hit it. Little details that spoil a car.

I haven’t sat in one yet, but I like the new Corolla’s interior and the C-HR looks similar. Great suspension and steering according to reviews, & proven hybrid tech (although I think I prefer the 1.2 turbo).
I’m looking for just a little bit of extra ride height and “crossover” SUV ability. It even has an AWD option.
Vitara, HRV, CX-30 etc don’t quite appeal. And being a small market, there is a very limited supply of anything more interesting from Europe...

The 2.0 hybrid in the Corolla and CH-R sounds interesting enough to put on the shortlist later this year. The Q2 is great but will be out of warranty in April 2021, and although a plug-in would suit me well, these are still carrying a big price premium. (£46k Peugeot 3008, anyone?)
The CH-R's higher seating position appeals, but I'm not sure if I could live with the awful rear visibility. I hope you'll try one, Dixinormus, and tell us what you think. The 1.2 petrol CH-R is no longer available here, but it presumably is still in NZ.

Was a passenger tonight in a Honda HRV. Sat in the back. The only think I can say that there a decent amount of rear legroom. More than I was expecting given the height of the people up front. Comfortable ride too.
Driver said it was underpowered but he drives a full fat Range Rover normally.
It coped well with the storm attacking the eastern Mediterranean at the moment. Dad was lifted off his feet this morning. He was returned to earth on his back but thankfully uninjured.

Bit wild here too this weekend. I’m watching my PVR recording of yesterday’s farcical Calcutta Cup match at Murrayfield.

Meant to flying home on easyJet departing at 20:00 UK time. But it has to leave Manchester first in about ten minutes....
We shall see...
If it does it will arrive early given the tail winds aloft. But which means a slow flight home ☹️

Bloody hell, that's fast.
Having sat in, but not flown on Concorde, I'd rather spend five hours on a Jumbo that three in a very cramped cabin.
Ten years ago we did the red-eye from LAX to EWR. We landed about an hour early, much to some people's annoyance, as they lost out on some sleep.
