In the post today is a 'Final Reminder' from a debt chasing company regarding some ticket allegedly received in Florence in the summer of 2014. I have no idea what the ticket is for and despite the 'Final Reminder' this is the first I know of it.
The debt collection company appear legitimate (according to online sources) and I have found a sample letter to write to them telling them that they need to provide more information before I will consider paying.
Looking at other online info I think I am being wise in not ignoring it, but its a bit rich asking for money for a ticket over five years old when I have not had the chance to appeal it. I did get a speeding ticket during the same trip which arrived about a year after the trip and I did pay that as I remember where I was and I was speeding! But I think there is some regulation that they cannot demand the money if it is more than a year after the infringement.
I wonder if the UK does the same to European drivers caught parking illegally or speeding.
