It's the right colour and has my preferred grey velour interior. (My first company 900 was red with grey too.) Tempting though; very tempting - although neither spawn has yet made any move towards learning to drive.

eBay pestered me to look again. It’s a car that runs and has an MoT but is being sold as a ‘project’, which is absolutely not what I want or need. I don’t mind paying a Happy Spanner type to fix the odd thing that wears out — even quite a lot of things — but it has to be decent on day 1 or my life here won’t be worth living. Certainly can’t have a decrepit hulk on the drive awaiting restoration.

Would have liked to see some interior photos. If I recall a rather dull car but worthy. Not Renault's better efforts, but it was a time when dull was better after the weirdness of the 60s and 70s.

Oh I dunno the turbo version was probably great fun. I used to think the 11 quite a good looking car, compared to Escorts and Astras at the time, it was just that bit different. Of course I had the frumpy saloon version, the Renault 9, a white one (with black stripes down the side) in 1.2 TC spec. E537 GTF.

They sold the 9 in North America, didn’t they? That was the origin of the four-headlamp front that then appeared on the 11.
That one clearly has never been hit by a falling leaf (never mind a falling Leaf.) I somehow doubt it would pass my notional crash safety test.

Fun maybe but it has a sunroof. In a car that shape that makes it strictly for stumpies.

Ah yes, I was forgetting your physical limitations. Hopefully my first born won't end up with similar restrictions on his choices. 15 years old now and about 5'6" or so, hopefully he won't breach the 6' mark, where so many things start to become unergonomic. Must be a bind.

1300 Mk1 Escort, fantastic learner car, lovely weighted but direct steering, good turning circle, perfect driving position, great visibility all round, gorgeous gearbox, and a real real fun classic.
Ridiculous amount of money to buy tho.

Learned to drive in a Mk1 1300 XL. Red, like that, but no rostyles.

....there are a limited number of cars that can carry it off, and I know colour is important, but that car pictured is "timeless".
