Sounds fishy? The Tesla Model 3 is the UK’s third biggest seller in the month of August, based on new registration data. Must be something going on... did a huge shipload arrive? Dealers frantically registering demos for some reason..?!

Yes, a huge shipload arrived. Exactly that. There's one charging outside my office window next to my grumpy looking Leaf as I type.

Just been quoted £387 + VAT per month for a Tesla 3, on a 3+35 lease deal with 8,000 miles pa.

That was just one quote from a casual enquiry. I haven't really looked properly and actually I think I would prefer an e-Golf or i3 rather than a Tesla. I was distinctly underwhelmed by the Teslas I have been in.

Strangely, this week's Autocar road test of the Model 3 reports a lot of road noise audible inside the cabin, where you'd think refinement would be one of an EV's strengths. They also say that the steering is heavy, which seems surprising.
It looks as if not only the heating and AC, but also the wipers are controlled by the touchscreen. Being temporarily 'blinded' by sudden spray from a lorry doesn't bear thinking about.
It may of course have virtues that compensate for the above. One of them seems to be that Tesla's charging infrastructure in the UK is well in advance of anyone else's.
