I can't imagine an Escort wearing a Trilby, but I can see one being called Arthur.

You never know, there might be a market for it....
Arthur's Escort Agency, for the over-70s. Arthur tells his wife that it's a Ford garage, where he does up old bangers.

I have of late returned to my daydream of retiring near the Vendee coast. Well, having a base there and touring around in a shed on wheels a bit. Of course, one needs a car for the dream retirement home. And I'm going to aspire to the fastest production car ever made. Yes, that's right, the Mark 1 Renault Twingo. Can still be observed overtaking absolutely everybody, and in significant numbers, on the French autoroutes.

A white Renault 5 is quicker. In the days when I used a magnetic GB plate on my car there was always one stuck to the back bumper.

Only saw one Renault 5 the whole two weeks this year. On a used car forecourt. Saw more Renault 4s, one was a lovely shiny black one in St Jean de Monts, the others were raggedy examples. Saw a couple of Citroen XMs in rough condition tearing down the autoroute, and one Renault 21 saloon in a charmingly sun-faded duck egg blue. several 2CVs, but I always suspect the drivers of being try-hard English migrants.
I do love a rough looking old French motor. The height of sophistication, innit.

I would love to to be able to drive a mechanically perfect specimen but one that looked rough on the outside. But I can't get my head around the dings and rust which may go hand in hand with unreliability.
I can cope with it overseas when the threat of rust is much reduced and the volume of cars already dinged are very high...

I used to have a white Renault 5 Campus back in the day. 1992 iirc. 1.1 four speed manual, but seemed nippy enough. Took it on some long European trips; the skinny wheels in the snowy Alps barely needed snow chains 😄

Same with my old mk1 Panda, took that on a few skiing trips to the Alps, no special tyres, just plodded through.

Well that's weird. I would say that maybe he's trying to drum up more hits, but surely more people will be looking for brown than red? The Magenta bit of the proper colour description is on the red spectrum though, right?

....but surely more people will be looking for brown than red? ...I may just be wrong, but, I'm not convinced that active demand is the reason the colour is described as "super rare Magenta brown".....
