Humph was shorn of 2 vital cylinders some time ago, it's been a while since he was "entire".

Enjoy your 6 cylinders while you can! Three seems to be becoming the norm... Indeed. But zero is a better number β makes six sound a bit rough. π€

With small petrol engines capable of cracking 50mpg these days I think they are good value for a few years yet, whether 3-cylinder or 4.

I posted earlier about the (3 cylinder) Smart managing to get two of us and 2 large/2 small suitcases in. Full as a frog, and at the speed limit most of the way, it was showing 59 mpg on the meter for the trip to my daughter's. (120+ miles). For a small car, though it is noticeably less smooth than the BMW, it is remarkably comfortable for such a journey. Us oldies would have killed for such a vehicle when we started driving.

Just out of curiousity ( aka being nosy ) why did you take the Smart for that journey when you have another car better suited to a trip like that?

It's certainly better suited for the journey, but as we have proven, not much so. Thing is, it's parked in a corner of my daughter's drive in Reading for three weeks, and, being so small it doesn't interfere with their parking. Hence, the Smart is better for the purpose.

Many thanks for the clarification, it was ever so slightly going to worry me if you had done it randomly. We have a social responsibility to be careful to keep a concerned eye on those who are of, well, let's just say, more advancing years, sometimes they do things that are not necessarily in their best interests, but they can't really tell you why... π

I can't really tell you why I'm holidaying in Canada at the moment - except, perhaps, because I can.... π

Not jealous of you at all...no, not even slightly, who would want to be doing that? Pah, anyone would rather be working wouldn't they... ( agonised internal scream building ) π±

Does look nice. Iβd really prefer a red one but black is a legitimate 900 colour. I must have a tucked away somewhere β although itβs a bit warm for such things here.

Resident of a house round the corner from me appears to have fulfilled his wants and dreams with a MkII Escort (Gold, black vinyl roof) and a white E Type. If I had to choose to own one or the other of this chap's delightful collection, it'd be the Escort.
I'm a little bit nervous for the Escort given their current value, it is sitting on a short driveway close to the road, and is eminently nickable.
Both cars appear to be unrestored, but runners.
I are envious.
