Crack in windscreen

We were in Espadrille's Clubman yesterday on a fast A-road which had been resurfaced with tar and stone chippings. A stone flung up from the car in front it our car.
This morning I notice a crack in the screen starting at the very top and extending down about two inches and then turning horizontal for another four inches. I had a close look and it is obvious that if the stone had hit about 1/2 cm higher up or even less, there would no crack as it would have hit the roof edge.
Damn. Will speak to the insurers tomorrow but it's annoying. I hope the new screen is fitted properly. Can I insist on an OEM screen?
