I've just given the old place a try, but it's evident that at least one racist idiot still posts on there, and that Otto and A.N. Other formerly of this parish have morphed into No Deal Brexiters.

I take a relaxed view of these things. I still read and post there, and indeed, very occasionally on HJ. I've tried to stop letting anything someone types annoy me and accept that there will always be those who will hold a different view to mine. Arguing with anyone on a forum rarely ends well and seems such a royal waste of time when reflected upon.
I'm always happy to express an opinion, or offer advice if I think I've got anything useful to say, but for the most part I use these platforms as a form of entertainment and not much else.
The thought that does occur to me though, with specific reference to the "B" word, is that prior to 2016, I was of course aware that there were those who held views that were so very different to mine, but I really hadn't known how many of them there were.
I remain ( see what I did there 😉) somewhere between astonished, disappointed and ever so slightly scared by that realisation, but have resolved not to let it drag me down or lead me into keyboard conflict with anyone.
