Nissan to cease selling the Infiniti brand in Western Europe. No surprise really. With the exception of Lexus, when will non-premium brands finally give up on trying to get in to premium markets?! Acura anyone? DS?!
Surely there’s more growth potential in the bottom of the market? Tata or Dacia for example...

Lexus made it work by starting earlier with an S-Class clone that was possibly even better to own.
Everyone else was simply me-too and Infiniti cars are damned fugly.
Mazda came close with the gorgeous Xedos6 but the Xedos9 was not good enough. Shame.

I'd love a Q70 estate.

Yes, we know. 😜 And I love the idea of a Saab 900. And a boat. Not sure which of those is less likely to happen.

Maybe, but Esp is being generous in calling it ‘fugly’. Cars designed for American tastes don’t play well in Europe — Mustang possibly excepted, but that works by making a virtue of its yee-hawness, not pretending to be sophisticated.
Odd that the Japanese don’t get this. There are some beautifully elegant and unfussy examples of Japanese industrial design in other fields — just pick up a Tojiro Senkou kitchen knife or a Nikon FM and try to imagine anything that might improve it. But even a Lexus seems gauche next to an Audi — and the less said about Infiniti, the better.

It's in the eye of the beer holder, as ever.
