Quite randomly, I checked the MOT history for my son's wee Aygo online this morning. Only because I had a feeling it might be due soon and couldn't be bothered to rake about looking for the paperwork. ( which my wife will have put somewhere "safe" )
Any old how, it's not due until the end of January so no panic there, but...it also flagged that there's an outstanding recall on his car and to contact a Toyota dealer without delay.
So I did and there is. It's a new recall and they say they would have tracked us down eventually, thank goodness, and relates to the rear window glass. Apparently they have developed a habit of falling out which would be at the very least, chilly.
They don't have all the details yet or the parts, but have promised to contact me when they do.
Now, his car is 8, going on 9 years old, and a part of me is quite impressed that Toyota are happy to carry out this modification to such an old car.
Of course it shouldn't have had the fault in the first place, but at least they are facing up to a potential issue and dealing with it.

About 2 years ago, my 2006 Mazda 6 got recalled for an airbag fault. I was impressed that they recalled a 10 year old car too.

I think, unless I've misunderstood, that they mean the rear window glass in the back doors rather than the tailgate. They don't open in an up and down manner but simply pivot and seem to be held onto a hinge with glue. Maybe the glue degrades or something. Anyway, I'll tell him not to open them again until it's checked and fixed.

Wasn't there some issue with the glass tailgate on these when they first came out? Maybe I'm thinking of leaks?

You might be right. His doesn't leak, but that's not to say it wasn't a thing.

I wonder if it applies to the C1 also. My niece still has one, I'll tell her to check it out.

Probably a good idea Al. Since discovered there's a fair bit of chat about it on owners forums.

So is it the tailgate glass or the hinged side windows?

Side windows. They can fall out it seems.

Do you get a pre-paid envelope to send it back in?
