Her Qashqai needs 4 new tyres. I've always stuck with the OE Bridgestone Duellers when it has needed them before. Seem to be OK tyres. However, when pricing up this next set, I found an offer on Blackcircles for Michelin Crossclimate + 4x4 tyres which came out much the same price as any others.
Being fitted on Saturday. It'll be interesting to see if they really do make a difference if we get any significant white stuff this winter.

Acording to HJ, their ride is far superior, so you may notice a difference when you drive out of the workshop.
Will we get much snow this winter anyway? Cheshire ususally gets off reasonably lightly, given it is in the path of the Gulf Stream.

I may have to travel far and wide to find some. Well, Buxton maybe, which isn't all that far, or wide, or too much influenced by the Gulf Stream I suppose. You can all thank me later for the mild winter to come.

What exactly is the difference between a cross-climate tyre and a tyre? Aren't all tyres cross-climate? Is there actually a difference? And are winter tyres less adequate in the summer? And how does a winter tyre compare to a snow tyre, are they different animals?
I put sod-off, big-arse-tread tyres on the Ram, and sort of girly tyres on the Moron. I don't think either are described as crosso-climato. (I'm effluent in Espanish).

What exactly is the difference between a cross-climate tyre and a tyre? Aren't all tyres cross-climate? Well, yes. But Cross-climates, notionally at least, are tyres that can work equally well either side of the 7°C threshold below which regular rubber is supposed to lose much of its grip. As some will remember, I put a set on the E220 in July 2016. The date is significant, in that I then sold the car in November 2017 after only one, very mild winter. So all I can really say is they seemed to grip, roll and ride as well in temperate conditions as the Primacy 3s I had before — not that the E is a car that really encourages cornering on the door handles. Other than that they seemed to wear well, as Michelins usually do, I didn’t really notice them. And that’s a good thing. By the time I got any snow to drive on, I was in the CLS with its 285mm Continentals, and it all got a bit slithery. I’d certainly put CCs on it if I could get them, and hope they might cope a little better, but I’ve only Michelin’s word to go on. In any case, most owner reports on tyres are anecdotal and useless, because people usually just compare the effect of nice new tyres against the worn-out ones they replace. And the new ones are usually better. |

Reading reviews online, it is interesting that everyone says that their new tyres are great. However a few do come back after say 5,000 or 10,000 miles and give a more balanced review; sometimes saying that they wore too quickly or lost wet grip too early for the remaining tread.
