Just for a laugh. The new motorhome, motorcaravan campervan is built on an Al-Ko chassis, which means that nothing behind the cab (except the back wheels) is Fiat. I believe originally (and many moons ago) that Al-Ko had the full chassis-cab delivered, and cut the chassis off before mounting their own (the unit then being delivered to the motorhome converter). It wasn't long before this wasteful practice was overtaken by something rather more sensible, and Fiat now deliver them to Al-Ko as below: ...useful if you can't turn round in a narrow road....

Which wheels do the driving? ...it's a Fiat, so most of the time none of them. (Actually, being Italian, it simply - I use the term lightly - ensures there are as many reverse gears as forward ones..... The old ones are the best )

The Fiat Panda hire car I had in Spain a few weeks ago had less than 5000km on the clock but the synchro on 4th gear was already on it's way out so I just stopped using it.

Car is now booked in for repair on 20th September. The three lower plastic portions of the rear bumper all to be replaced, but the larger, body-coloured upper part will remain.
Looks to be reasonably simple (though not cheap). On inspecting the bodyshop guy wasn't sure whether the two (non-body) coloured parts would come pre-painted or not, but their match to anything else isn't critical anyway, and if they need spraying, it can be done in advance.
Only fiddly bit is that third, standard black part has the reversing sensors in, which will need carefully "popping" - anyway, that's their problem not mine.
I have correspondence from the other party's insurance company that they will refund my excess on receipt of a repair invoice/receipt detailing it, so, all in all, things could be a lot worse.
Car will be unused in the interim anyway, as we are off "sur le continent" with our chemical weapons store....
