Well done.
Today we went walk up the hills and Moors above Manchester. It was a bit boggy so Polo (who is short and white) became two-tone like a classic American car, white on top and muddy black below. He would have first in class for the category of two tone dogs but it is rather small category and less prestigious than the Kennel Club.

I face timed my dog while I was in China. He apparently wouldn't go to bed while I was away and took to sleeping on the front door mat. He does wait there for me quite often anyway but last week he insisted on sleeping there.
Drove "her" to distraction so we tried the FaceTime thing and I tried to tell him to go to bed.
Yeah I know...but what else was I going to do?

So the dog wont go to bed and sleeps on the matt if you are away. Mine does that. Wife just shrugs and says "well if you really want to be that stupid then carry on" Mine now sleeps outside the bedroom door where we are in bed, it gets kicked or walked on when we go to the loo in the dark.
you need to be fairly laid back about dogs feelings to make life with them work.

Ours sleeps in a cage in the kitchen. He knows its his 'bedroom'. Sometimes he puts himself to bed. We wander round the house asking 'Where's Polo?' only to find he is in his cage waiting for the blanket to over the top.
During the day he can found anywhere in the house, fast asleep, although he has a penchant for the quarter turn step on the staircase, facing the front door. Sometimes doesn't even raise an ear if we step over him on the way up/down. It's a dog's life.

I have a very, very big shed, some years ago I decided it would make my life more complete to have such a thing. It was custom built at greater expense than is reasonable for a garden shed but I knew it was important to get it right. One of its features is an integral kennel with its own little entrance so that Leo could have his own little place to shelter when he was in the garden. It's quite ornate with a sort of dog porch, his own little patio etc. Far more than any mutt deserves quite frankly.
Will he use it? Like hell he will. Little sod.

So, Tomorrow, Sunday, we are entered into two rounds at Woburn Dog Trainiing Society, championship show. Long day, 90 minute drive there and back, drawn early so have to hang around most of the day waiting to see if we are placed. At least at the last one, me and the dog shot off to the local pub. (where as it happens two pints for me, and half a sausage roll for the dog seemed to be the winning formula, as straight after that we won our class)

Its been a kind of day. First show home with no Silk. Cocked up on timings, so only got one class in, nothing went wrong in that class (One above our qualifying class) , 10th out of 30 but it wasn't sparkling and she didnt set the world on fire like she can. Her and me were a bit flat. C'est la vie. The chef (cook, burger tosser whatever you call him) in the club house clearly learned his art at the Great Fire of London school of cookery.

Hey if it was easy there wouldn't be the same satisfaction when it all goes right. You both can't be on tune every time.
Perhaps the same applies to the burgers.

>Tomorrow we, Evie and I, are competing in an obedience dog show.
Full marks to Zero on this. There's no way that I'd try to compete against a dog at an obedience show.
When I suggested it to Mrs K. she just laughed and said "Can't teach an old dog new tricks."

When I suggested it to Mrs K. she just laughed and said "Can't teach an old dog new tricks." My dog is considerably cleverer than me, and better looking with far more charm. I'd never attempt to compete against her.

Hah ! *MY* dog is considerably cleverer than you, and better looking with far more charm, and he died three years ago.
