Why? weeel why not, it wont hurt and I like gadgets.
Its an HP F870G currently on offer at savage discounts £119, is as good as the top of the range higher price Nextbase and comes with a secondary rear camera.
HD 1080p front, very wide angle lens, 720p rear. Built in GPS and g sensors, and will record in "car parked mode" if it detects a shock. Front performs well at night, rear does not mostly due to the darkened rear window.
Here is a clip, records in 3 minute sections so there is a 3 minute front, 3 minute rear. Bundled with the camera is a very nifty app that takes front/rear/gps/G sensor/audio and produces a complete event recorder output, so there is three minutes of that
(the camera raw footage does have an audio track, but my editing suite didn't like it for some reason)

Not a bad shout I guess, given your spatial awareness problem. 🤪

Wow! Did you include a skateboarding gorilla at 8.52 to see whether viewers stayed for the duration?
Is this a lo-res rendition of a higher quality original? Because it's hard to make out any text smaller than 'M4', and I'd imagine for it to be useful you'd want it to show number plates.
Also curious that the rear view is reversed. Does that serve a purpose?

Clearly one gorilla that watched it needs glasses or a decent PC.

Yes, pardon me for not firing up the MacBook Retina so I couid watch nine minutes of cars on the M4. This makes that video you did of a level crossing in Southampton look like Lawrence of Arabia. The detail is there, is it? Jolly good.

Video is very 'pixelated'* though. I've just tried watching it in 1080P (albeit on a 2560x1440 display). Better than no video if you're involved in an accident I suppose.
* Or more accurately suffering from compression of an MPEG4 video. Blocky.

I thought is rather burred then as you joined the M4, it cleared up very nicely. I especially liked the Pretenders at 6.10 - thank you; but don't think I watched it all the way there, there is only so much indident free motorway drivng one can watch without resorting to fast fowarding.

Kinda surprising that the NCAP pussies haven't decided that dashcams are a passive safety feature yet..?! Knock off a star if the car hasn't got one. Pretty sure the insurance companies will be supportive. And Hey, we've already got rear-facing cameras in pretty much all new cars now haven't we?!
