...and, the windrush from a large roof box. It’s a hard life you know and what’s more, no one cares, no one sympathises. I just have to suffer it. But I’m never bitter. 😩

Only lager? Think how life would look up if there were more bitter in it.

Cheer up. It’s kebab night.

Not sure if I’ve ever had a kebab. I’ve seen one of course, but I really didn’t like the look of it, or indeed the demeanour of the person eating it. He was wearing a tracksuit, but I strongly suspect he hadn’t actually taken any exercise for quite some time.

It’s just grilled meat, salad and bread. It can be done well or shoddily, from good or crap ingredients. See also hamburger (q.v.)

I have had a couple of takeaways this week, an Indian to "celebrate" the passing of another year (one more to 50, spring chicken of this forum that I am), and also a Lebanese to congratulate a child for passing a school entrance exam and being offered a place (she loves their style of "pizza"). So for once, I'm not going to be enjoying the produce of Turkish Grill, Kings Grill or Bakery House (the last being a marvellous, authentic Lebanese restaurant in Reading, which happens to do spectacular chicken and lamb wraps and amazing roast lamb dishes) this Friday. Imagine being on the wrong side of the equator and not having access to that whenever you fancy though. Must be difficult. Don't know why that thought popped in to my head. *shrug*

Lebanese food always seems great in principle but is too frequently a stodgy disappointment on the plate. See also Turkish, Greek...

Just like the Volvo V60 I used to have.
(Dynamic Dave would have been proud of that reversion to motoring!)

No chance of a takeaway or home-delivery tonight. Snow is currently more than six inches deep (I'm not going outside to measure it) and it's still coming down. Roads around Basingstoke are at a standstill and M3, A303 and A33 are closed. Neighbour went out to collect her kids from school at 3.30 this afternoon and still hasn't returned.

Very strange. It snowed here in north Dorset but the temperature was slightly above freezing and it hasn't settled on the roads, even our narrow hill through the village. But looking at the online AA traffic map, the worst of it seems to be localised between about Newbury and Farnham.

We used to get 10’ snowdrifts at our old house. It was a three storey building and when the snow was “proper” we would see it up to the bottom of the first floor windows. The cars would be completely buried. We have been completely cut off for up to ten days at a time with no power or fresh water due to mains water freezing.
It was in Scotland and 1200’ above sea level though.
