Great examples Rob. The Widor Toccata neeeds a powerful organ with plenty of oomph in the pedals. There wasn't enough power at Sonning, where I was for many years, and Dorset village organs are even smaller, so I haven't played it for ages.
I did give it a go during my first job as an organist, at Holybourne in Hants. The verger, who was the local cowman, was getting married and said 'Oi don't know what that piece be called, but it go Tiddle-iddle-iddle'.
That's just how it goes!

Who remember's this music from a ZX Spectrum game? Maybe I'm remembering wrong but sure it was played (poorly) in a Spectrum game. Seem to think it was Bee related.

I've played the organ for church services for 50 years and never (yet!) been asked not to come back! ....OTOH, our church organist learned his technique, I think, from Morecambe and Wise. It sounds like all the right notes, but definitely not in the right order. It's like trying to sing along to Les Dawson playing the piano organ......

Carol concert survived. Arrived home with 27% charge remaining. No worries.
To answer Espada's enquiry about chargers, I'd probably get away with three pin charging, as I arrive home about 6pm most days with 50% still remaining, so not a problem to charge overnight. Even if I were empty it would probably manage it. But I was offered a free fast charger and didn't look the gift horse in the mouth. It seems to take 3 hours to charge me from 50% to 100%. Not needed so far, but worth having just in case, especially considering the price. Mine is installed in the (double) garage, so I park the car in there, but the cable can also reach outside if I ever need to leave the car on the drive.
I haven't yet purchased a fast charge cable for public charging, and I haven't had the occasion to use a public charger yet. I'm more likely to use a rapid than a fast public charger if I ever do, I think, and those are always tethered with their own cable.
Thinking about it, I should probably have got a non-tethered charger for home, that way I could have removed the fast charge cable and taken it with me should the need ever arise, and just left the cable plugged in to the charge point at other times, seeing as it's in the garage and can't be stolen easily. Small error there, but never mind.

Clearly you don't like the church organ, WDB, but to say that 'it is impossible to play with any semblance of rhythm or timing' is so obviously untrue that it's hardly worth a reply. Just listen on Youtube to one of the major Bach organ works, or for something lighter and more fun, but extremely rhythmical, try Lefebure-Wely - Sortie in B flat. Forgive me a little hyperbole, Avant; I'm having a grumpy week, and I'd momentarily forgotten we have one among us who might take it personally. I'm familiar with the great Bach works, and I've always found Bach - cello suites and a few other, smaller-scale works aside - easier to respect than to love. I did look up your other recommendation, which I didn't know, and found it, with some organ arrangements of more familiar stuff, on this album. #NowPlaying "Lefébure-Wely : Sortie" by Kalevi Kiviniemi on @sonos www.deezer.com/track/3887686It doesn't persuade me, I'm afraid. Yes, it's jolly enough in a fairground-organ sort of way, and the oompah beat is there, but the organ still sounds mechanical and smears over the quicker rhythms and details that ought to give it impact and life. The bagpipes comparison is probably apt: both put an intermediate device between the player and the sound producer, which takes away the fine control of tone and timing that I think music needs. The acoustics they're played in probably don't help, whether that's an over-resonant cathedral or a blasted Scottish moor. For what it's worth, I did compliment the organist after my mother's funeral on keeping his playing rhythmic, transparent and easy for non-regulars like me to sing with, and I'm sure you're just as mindful of those you're playing for.

Forgive me a little hyperbole, Avant; I'm having a grumpy week... ...that range anxiety is a bit insidious, isn't it........ ...though I'm quite fond of most Bach works, the Tortelier version of the Cello Suites is one of the few of my original vinyl classical collection I've been moved to duplicate on CD. Maybe if "the organ still sounds mechanical and smears over the quicker rhythms and details that ought to give it impact and life" then you should have your Bach served up "switched on" a la Wendy/Walter Carlos.

Sorry, wrong exit. Seems that was the Sortie in E flat instead. I'm sure the B flat one is just the cojones caninos. 😉

What the hell are you lot on about. I'm going to see some top class music this weekend, Shed Seven in concert in that London. Now that's quality.
If you like your Indie Rock'n'Roll like wot I do, get yer lugs round their new album (first in 16 years) called Instant Pleasures. Aptly named.

First track I turned up is called Disco Down. Sounds like a cross between Duran Duran and The Killers. Not altogether a bad thing.

I was just thinking that the right channel seems to be set higher than the left.
Now found Room in My House, which is actually rather good. I stand by my Killers comparison, though.

Shed Seven have been around about 10 years longer than The Killers. Any comparison should go the other way, surely.
Glad you've enjoyed some of their stuff. Disco Down is one of their better known tracks. My favourite is Chasing Rainbows, look for the strings and piano arrangements in particular.
