Its surrey, no call for them. Just my bleedin' luck to get stuck behind one on the A25 between Dorking and Guildford a few weeks ago then. Must have been lost.

Well those of us with "sufficient" horsepower to dismiss them dont notice them. Buy hey you should be happy, by slipstreaming you save a milliamp or two.

Tee hee, quoting the wrong person now eh, Nogghausen? Never mind. I'm sure your declining senses won't lead you in to the path of another number 27.
P.S. I was in the 204bhp 6-cyl E at the time.

Perhaps the list prevented you seeing round it? Anyway, Why were you in the filthy dirty stinking expensive diesel? Oh yes, thats right it was further than round the corner.

Future certainly does start here...https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-27/shell-joins-automakers-to-offer-charging-stations-across-europe By the time I'm due to replace the Focus in 2020 there should be a decent selection of vehicles out there with low recharge times and good infrastructure to cover the distances.
In the meantime the i3 looks a good bet. How's it going WDB ? I saw you mentioned special permission from SWM has to be requested to drive it.

It spent yesterday on the drive while we (mostly) dealt with some family stuff. Our only outing was in the CLS: me making MrsB1 drive it in case she has to on our long trip at the end of the week. (For which, Sven, yes, the i3 lacks range but primarily space.) She did use the i3 this morning to take our cat a mile down the road for a vet appointment, which would not have been kind to a fossil car.
She reports, incidentally, that the CLS feels much like the E, but with more comfortable seats and less tendency to wallow. She's generally not keen on driving at all, but she grudgingly admits that she rather likes it. I may have to wait for a proper go in the i3 till the current bout of work travelling is done.

Pay attention.
2) If you think that's an argument for not having one electric vehicle for the majority of one's annual mileage, when that mileage is mainly "round the corner", then you're dafter than someone who blows tens of thousands on a rapidly depreciating asset, which he then has painted green.

Builder's foreman: 'Paddy, here's some green paint. Will you go and paint the porch.'
Paddy (later): 'Oi painted it green, sir. But it wasn't a Porsche, it was a BMW.'
The old ones are the best....

Ran a quick electric errand this morning to drop off a parcel. On the way back I encountered my first significant inaudibility problem. I was picking my way slowly past a line of parked cars, stopping completely a couple of times when balked by drivers I thought should have waited for me. After one stop, I found myself bearing slowly and silently down on a tradesman who'd stepped into the road and was blocking the gap, messing about through the open driver's door of his van.
I stopped, of course. My problem was that he seemed not to know I was there. Parping the horn would have seemed unduly aggressive. In a manual fossil car I'd have discreetly blipped the engine with the clutch down; even in an automatic, I think he'd have heard the engine restart. But in the i3, there was nothing I could do.
He finished fiddling, closed the door, looked up and seemed surprised to see me. Strange experience, though. Perhaps I should get some sort of sound-effect generator - duck quack, steam engine whistle...?

One of those leccy jobs nearly had me off my feet in a supermarket car park the other day. Creeping about like a creepy thing it was.
