I once drove a Brabus Smart. Horrible thing especially with that semi-auto gearbox, but I seem to remember that pulling back on both paddles dropped you into neutral?? ...current model is much revised, with an entirely different (though DCT) auto gearbox, and no flappy paddles. TBF the reviews of the old auto gearbox were dire, the new one is...........OK (ish)

Glad to hear it. It must be at least 10 years ago or more I drove the Brabus.

Apparently when not busy tuning Smarts, Brabus would tweak my CLS (or, presumably, Esp's E with the same engine) up from 265hp to 306, which would pretty much see Sven's 355 and probably beat him to the next lights by out-torquing him 5 to 3. Not really much point, though, is there?

Might be quite interesting if the Smart would go to 306, though.......

Not really much point, though, is there? While they can tune the diesel to produce even greater amounts of torque, and it feels very lively flexing your right ankle in higher gears, putting it unrestricted through your gearbox will result in you dumping cogs all over the road. Even little four cylinder petrol engines have eletrickery limiting torque in first gear these days. That and the short first gear diesels usually have means the petrol will still get the jump from a standing start. A rolling start would be different.

Don't worry, it ain't gonna happen. 😴 I would save your money, their own figures say it isn't worth it. After the remap a 350CLS still takes 5.9seconds to 100kph and they don't remove the limiter which you probably wouldn't be troubling anyway. I suspect Sven's 540i is nearer the 4's if not in the 4's for the same sprint.
