Not being funny, but that is the route I'd go down given your mileage and association with the vehicle. Obviously address any immediate issues bit seriously a Merc with 160k miles does anyone care if it has sparkly wheels or not ?

Don't worry, it'll not be happening again until after we return to BST in the spring.

You really do get Burgehered for public holidays. Nothing between now and the end of December and only no.6 in the world global economy? What are you doing ? Less time leaning up against the coffee machine discussing Coronation-Enders-Xfactors would be so much more effective.

Yeah, but, the steamy thing is more fun. In some ways, it's a bit like my petrol strimmer, my fondness for which, I may have previously mentioned... 😜 I mention for the unfortunates who[se wives] haven't a steamer. Mine has actually, but I never thought of using it for wheels.

Tried the Steamy-mop method for wheel cleaning today! - but we don't have a Steamy-mop! so I improvised and tried the Wallpaper - stripper (without the plate ) and a dish-wash brush! - works great! thanks for the tip! ;-)

I find that one can get wheels as clean as they need to be with a garden hose at about 3ft.
Though I guess dirty wheels will show up new scratches quite dramatically so other people may have different motivations.

Impressed by the wheel-cleaning yesterday, I steam-cleaned the whole car exterior today with the wallpaper-stripper and 2 sponges (one for the glass!). Whole car cleaned and instantly dried in under 12 minutes! - Sparkly and clean with no messing with buckets, hoses, suds, rinsing, drying etc etc! think it's the way of the future! Warning:put yer Marigolds on tho chaps the sponge and pipe can get rather toasty!!

Very brave of you Hobbit, glad it worked !
Erm, there is still actual paint on your car then? I mean, I shouldn't think it'll fall off next time it rains, should be fine...you'd think...probably...almost certainly nothing to worry about, all that much...
