Blimey, who would drive straight into the side of something that size? It's nearly as big as a bus.
Oh wait...

Can't quite work it out. Did the campervan simply fail to stop, or is it an odd junction that can catch out the unwary? Wonder where it is?

Likewise, I found it difficult to work out (until someone posted the location and a bit more info). It happened here: goo.gl/maps/zx33oFvnx6w....which is much clearer, and, if you follow the road back there is ample warning in the form of various road signs, rumble strips, AND warnings of changed priorities! If you zoom out to satellite view (which is older) the changed priorities become obvious (and apparently, the change was not over-recent). Word has it that the drivers were Dutch and German, respectively, and there is conjecture that the motorcaravanner was concentrating on a Satnav that didn't include the changes. Quite a smack, though!

It does appear odd why the priority is given to the B road over the A road. Give Way is Give Way though I've never seen an equivalent sign in NL or DE due to their give way to the right rule unless, in DE, there is a yellow and white diamond overruling that.

FR too. There's a surprising amount of PÃ D here in Ain; surprising to me anyway, as I'd rather got out of the habit of expecting it except on the backiest of back roads. I've hardly seen a black diamond sign since we arrived.

The google maps reference brings up the A823 / B914 junction for me It does not look the same as the location in the video even if they had cleared all the trees etc, the video shows a T junction, google maps shows a cross road looks like I had always imagined Z's moment to be, little warning of the junction so nobody thought of someone crossing their path, BANG. In this case the give way sign is easily missed with the lay-by and parked car as a distraction, especially if you are driving on the "wrong side" of the road.

Remind me to be careful at junctions next time I'm in Marlow.

There is always too much traffic in Marlow for that sort of accident all those Range Rovers, Bentleys etc take up a lot of space :-)

They've changed the priorities there to prevent accidents, I expect. There must have been a few accidents caused by traffic travelling west-eat on the b-road, which would have a very restricted view of traffic coming down the a-road from its left at the junction. Probably been a fair few smashes and they decided to give priority to the b-road as traffic stopping at the junction on the a-road with the new priorities has a much better view of crossing traffic. Then, as said, a tourist with an old satnav comes along.............
There's a similar junction in the suburbs near me where couple of smashes have happened in the last few years (Albert Rd/Highmoor Rd for the local aficionados), one pedestrian was killed sadly. Council is considering changing the priorities to favour the road with the worse sight lines at the junction, even though that is the "lesser" road. I don't see it as the answer, as can be seen from this youtube clip. Needs a traffic light set up sadly, this one in Scotland should probably be a roundabout. This is where the US style 4-way stop comes in to its own.

Its now impossible to approach the spot the direction I did. Yeah, there's been talk of that at my local junction too, but there are very few roads which take you across the neighbourhood, so there are strong objections from people on other streets who would get much more traffic.
I think the council's favoured option at the moment is a raised platform in the junction, which would slow priority traffic down across it. Doesn't work for me. This is the junction:

You can see the slight kink in the road which causes a visibility issue. Now the streetview of the two sides. From this direction, the problem for me is the fence on the right hand corner, and the hedges on the left:

From this side, the problem is the tree in the Albert Road pavement to the left, it blocks the view nicely, you'll have to move around to see what I mean:

And yes, you're right, this is a very nice part of Reading.
