Was just streetviewing an alternative route somewhere today, and came across this fossil:
goo.gl/maps/KcjSWHCw7tA2
Obviously I'm fat too young to be able to identify the motor, can anyone else? Also, how the hell did anyone ever see one of these form behind in the dark? The rear lights are hardly there at all.

I'm not fat (sic), but I am old enough to have a guess.
Looks like an Armstrong Siddeley to me - though a check with Google images (which I can't do, as I'm heading out) might confirm.
(We ate a lot of carrots back then - no kebabs! (or cream eggs))

Gah. Bloody typing deficiency strikes again. Armstrong Siddeley eh? They went to the wall before my time I think. My interest in cars developed in the early/mid 70s, most of that sort of car was off the road by then I want to recall. Maybe I just ignored old fashioned stuff.

Yes, definitely an A-S Sapphire. They soldiered on till 1960 but Jaguars were cheaper and faster, Rovers more solid and reliable, and eventually I think Armstrong decide to concentrate on making aircraft engines.

Tadley Kebab? (if you select satellite view from the link, and zoom slowly out, the tag for the same appears - spooky!)
