Anyway, if you can be bothered, do the cost per hours of usage calculation on your own cars. Might make taxis look cheap! I spend about 300 hours/year in my car, that works out at 13.20€/hour. If I used a taxi for work it would be 75€ one way for a 40 minute car ride. I'd need a significant discount to make the taxi look cheap. I'd also need to be a bit more organised to have him ready at the door where I normally just pick up the car keys and stroll out the door. |

Humph, does SWMBO like driving the lad's Aygo as much as you do? You might be on to something if she does, and she could be less likely to say 'go forth and multiply' than if you suggest a 20-year-old Micra.

She does like the Aygo very much, but, she also likes "big" and sitty uppy. You'd be forgiven for not remembering, but she had quite a nasty accident in her Ka some years ago. She managed to end up upside down in it in a field, and had to be cut out of it by the emergency services. When we subsequently went to see it and reclaim her personal stuff from it, it really did look a mess. Since then, she's had a bit of a wariness of small cars.

I'd forgotten that: I remember now, and how glad we all were that she recovered. Cost per hour is a measure I feel better if I forget about! - but if I remember right, you did your best by buying the Qashqai secondhand.
