One of my Landcruisers keeps ending up with warped discs that then need to be replaced. As soon as they are replaced, the unholy shudder and shake when braking goes away.
However, within 3 months it'll be back, and its always the same.
The other Landcruiser which gets driven exactly the same way and in the same conditions, worse if anything, has never suffered in this way.
Any thoughts?

As a general home car servicer, I would surmise thus;
Disk rarely warp these days, because of the way they are made. Essentially most disk are vented, that is two disk surfaces with a with a vane in between, and they are made as a single casting. Construction and metallurgical wise this makes them extremely warp proof. Warping used to be caused by binding pads, causing one hot side and one cooler side, and sinking heat away through the pad when stopped. Similar feeling symptoms are however caused by poor bedding in of disks/pad contact. Again this is caused by sticking pads.
If the pads and guides are not changed at disk change time, or they are poorly installed (calipers not cleaned up, cylinders sticking, no coppaslip) the disks will end up the same way again. Changing calipers, disks and pads will fix it.

It would appear that the caliper is indeed dodgy on one side. So, thank you very much for that pointer, bit embarrassed it didn't occur to me before.
That's the trouble here, willing hands are fairly easy to find, but minds are not.
