Looks like the weather is being quite kind to you. 27C and sunny apparently? A place to be by my standards. 😉

It was 25°C here in Germany today if you prefer your neighbours less noisey.

Well, the sausages would swing it. Hadn’t imagined you as the swinging-sausage type, Humph. Now I have, and I wish I hadn’t. 🙈

Looks like the weather is being quite kind to you. 27C and sunny apparently? A place to be by my standards. 😉 The only problem is the humidity which is high, very high at times. Went up the hill to Jerusalem last night. 5C cooler and far less humid so much more pleasant. However compared to weather elsewhere I'm not complaining. Next year the same Tabernacle festival is three weeks later so although the chance of rain is higher the temperature and humidity should be a bit lower.

Interestingly the sport mode on this i20's gearbox is impressive. A noticeable dropping down of gears, hanging onto the revs and locking out seventh gear. The car is far more responsive.
Makes driving in the highways of Israel much easier where aggression is the default mode. It is impossible to drive defensively as you will end up doing 60kmh behind a heavy truck with no way to overtake.

Safe yes.. thanks for asking.
Out, no. All US and major European carriers have stopped flying including easyJet. Ryanair, Pegasus, Vueling and various smaller eastern Europe airlines operating and El Al of course but booked up. Not trapped as there are options but I need to wait to ensure Son #1 gets off OK and see what happens with the M-i-L and her flight. Once I know that, I can plan our route out.

Glad you're okay. Hope son gets off okay and the MiL. Then I hope your flight home is soon after. Worrying times again. I won't start to say what I think but I do want to say Hamas knew how Israel would respond. So why do it!?!? Many innocent dead already and we know it is nowhere near over.

Golma Meir once said "..when the Arabs learn to love their children more than they hate the Jews, there will be peace...". The Gulf States and Saudi know that but Iran and it's clients do not.

So ..the Polestar 2...
You know what it is, but what is it like?
Good point: - Very driver focussed. The cockpit is snug, with all controls easily accessible and the touchscreen nearer to the driver than in the I5. It is a sporty drive, direct, no wallow. Surprisingly efficient at higher speeds with a cruise at an indicated 75mph returning similar range to the I5 at worst and possible a little better, no doubt due to better aerodynamics.
Less good point: - Lower seating position (good) as the battery is in the very high transmission tunnel (but) which means that the wall to keep Mexicans out of the USA is easier to climb over than this console. Quite clostrophobic for some people I reckon. There is no 'On' button. When you unlock the car, it 'starts' and so you get in, fasten your seat belt, press the brake and move the gearlever to D or R and off you go. I think it is a bit of a gimmick. I prefer the idea of actually turning a car off and on. I think it turns off when you lock the car but it is not obvious.
Bad points: - The pedals are to low so that you have nowhere to rest your feet if you are using Adaptive Cruise and Lane Keeping. The I5 is far superior in this regard. Only four seats I think; no room for feet for a middle rear passenger. The touchscreen is OK, but no Android Auto, and if you change the radio station you need to press the screen twice more to get back to the SatNav (Google Maps) so the I5 with some physical buttons (and a split screen) is better. No clicky paddles to alter regenerative braking, so on a fast country road where I like to play with the braking as if I was driving an ICE with tiptronic, I cannot do it in the Polestar whereas I can in the I5.
Despite al that I quite like it and as a drivers car it is better than the I5 but it is clear that under the surface the I5 is more advanced and will date less quickly. I think over time I would gravitate towards the I5 if I had access to both cars.

The Polestar 2 is a first generation EV it shares much of its architecture with ICE Volvo, there's a lot of S60 in the silhouette. Edit: the automatic RHD S60 got a left footrest but manual cars went without, no space between the clutch pedal and tunnel. LHD cars all got a left footrest. It doesn't get Android Auto because I believe they have migrated to Google Auto or whatever it is the new car OS is called. It will mirror your phone or work as a standalone device with access to the Play Store via your Android login. Obviously, you're not going to do that with a hire car but that is next gen car interface away from Android Auto.
Is your car FWD or RWD ? They made the switch this year in the facelift.

Polestar was the first manufacturer to feature native Android Automotive OS.
It can work with AA. You need to tap the name of your device for it to display - suspect you'll need BT and WiFi enabled - the AA tile will open and compatible apps displayed. If that does not work open AA from App view.

Think it's RWD. Feels like it when I power away from a roundabout. I will try the AA thing..
