Done that a few times...especially if the back wheel spins out on a climb. 😳

Except this was going downhill and bouncing off a 12" drop.

...well, I see Humph's taken the hint and gone for a bigger helmet (ooooh Matron!) (....and that bike sure does look poorly!)

I have actually seen a nutter off roading on a unicycle. Never saw him again mind. It may not have ended well.

Another thing that has taken a turn for the worse is my new bike search. "She" rarely goes into my man cave at the bottom of the garden. ( aka really the big shed ) But she did the other day and has noted that I currently have 6 bikes. Something along the lines of "how many 'king bikes do you need?" was mentioned...

Its a valid observation.

2 of them are trashed in fairness, just keeping them for "bits". Another one is pretty much vintage, must be over 35 years old, just keep it for nostalgic reasons, it being one of the first "proper" mountain bikes which was imported from California. Might be worth something one day funnily enough. Another is the one I use if I've got to park a bike in town, oldish thing that while once good, looks tatty enough not to be interfered with. So, really, it's not that I'm especially over-biked. The remaining two are my "main" bikes, one full-suss for the more brain out stuff and a hardtail for general trail riding.

Been out doing a bit of bike riding this weekend. Nothing major, just up to 10 miles for a bit of fresh air and exercise. Mostly on unmade paths and along the Thames Path. The keener reader may remember I purchased a new mountain bike 2 years ago, cheapest one I could find in Halfords at the time.
First day out, puncture. Gah. Had one last summer and remember the bike repair bloke in France saying my wheels are cheapos with spoke ends sticking through and occasionally causing punctures. SO I wandered down to Decathlon with the intention of buying some new wheels, but was introduced by the very helpful French in-house bike mechanic that I could get away with some rim tape (had never heard of it) and some new inner tubes. So I got those and a tyre lever, which set me back a total of £3.50, using a £5 Decathlon voucher I had. Result. Went home and fitted it all, no repeat punctures yet and a much better feeling ride - must be the improved inner tubes.
I did realise one thing whilst out and about - even on slightly rough paths and across meadows, I could do with front suspension. So, I'm having a root around the internet today for some cheap front suspension forks, best price I've found so far is about £40.
Well happy with the advice ad service I got at Deathlon, I hope we don't lose their EU staff ad have them replaced by the gormless twonks from JJBDBBD First Sports Divison, who seem to know nothing about anything but leisure wear track suits.

If you do lose expertise at your local bike shop Al take a little trip up to Marlow and try Saddle Safari there. No connection other than as a customer, know their stuff and v helpful.

I am a poor typist with little time for proof reading when it comes to unimportant things like this forum. But well spotted.

Don't buy cheap forks. Better to get some wider tyres. Cheap forks will just add weight and turn the front of your bike into a pogo stick.
