Left my phone at home by mistake today. When I got back there was a voice message from the BMW salesman who demoed the 320GT for us in August. He remembered March as a time I might make a decision and called to remind me about factory holidays and other reasons to order one now.
He also said very clearly - as he did after the demo - that he was keen to do a deal and would make sure he did the very best for us.
Now this may be sales blather, but I've not heard it quite like this before. Certainly it's nothing like the style I got from his colleague at another branch who sold me the 325. So perhaps he's a salesman in the second half of his year - and now very near the end of it - with a target to hit. Perhaps customers really are delaying big decisions until it's clear how much the Brexit fiasco will cost them (as, in fact, am I, since I don't yet know whether I'll get a bonus at all for 2016). Perhaps this has always just been his style. Seems surprising to me, though. What does the team think?

If you see the discounts that BMW are offering across most of the models in the range (10 to 15% (near 20% on some models)) you will see they are clearly keen to sell. Why? one can only assume because they haven't had the year they planned. A few model changes planned for next year is in the mix as well, so old stock/capacity is being pushed.

Maybe he's just that rare breed, a good, hardworking and organised salesman. They do exist. Not on every street corner granted, but they're out there.

Could be, Humph. I work with a few such salespeople myself. I was sort of wondering whether anyone else had had any similar contact from dealers, not necessarily BMW dealers.

There would be little point in him saying anything else.
I suspect that, as Humph says, he's a good salesman. Some of them are, very good. Lots / most of them are not.
