Or more accurately, everything in London seems to start at a tenner.
Was there today, parking for two hours, tenner, con charge, tenner, two coffees and two bacon butties, tenner...sheesh...
Traffic horrible too, Olympians in town so the area around Trafalgar Square was gridlocked.

I have a glass spaghetti jar in the kitchen which is full of old coins, Some British and most examples of pre-euro European currencies including German, French, Italian, Irish, Belgian, Dutch, Austrian, Greek etc. There's also US $, Brazilian, Yugoslavian, Hungarian, Turkish, oh you get the picture.
Should really get them out and check what's there.

That must have been a pretty low rent place! I reckon that in EC2 you would have paid more than that when I retired 21 years ago!

I thought Edinburgh was a bit pricey last weekend. What they charge on the airline ticket for the airport services (>45€ of which 6,90€ was Cologne/Bonn) and now EDI are talking about up to an extra £17.50 to clear security checks in future if you do not want to spend 25 minutes in there which is reported as 3 minutes on the website ho ho ho.
The pickup and drop off charges 0-5 minutes a pound to drop off rising to £3 for 5 - 10 minutes and so on and so forth, collection of passengers up to 15 minutes is charged at £3.90, £5.90 for 15-30 minutes. Maybe I've been away too long and I'm not used to this PAYG system which has taken over the UK.

Thankfully as yet Manchester airport has not succumbed to the charging to drop off disease. It will really annoy almost 30 million people each year if they do it. Cannot understand why airlines accept it.

Manchester airport really is the only place left where you can still see people in shell suits.

Cannot understand why airlines accept it. The airlines get a fantastic deal on landing fees. The airport has to cover the lost income. Public don't see the link.

The airlines get a fantastic deal on landing fees. The airport has to cover the lost income. Public don't see the link. You'd need to explain that to me. My recent ticket had c.45€ airport fees, 6.90€ for Cologne/Bonn the remainder for Edinburgh. No pick up or drop off fees in Germany fees as listed above for EDI. There's something wrong with the model somewhere if the 37€ per passenger is not enough and supplemental fees to leave and enter the airport are required or airports around the world are about to go bankrupt. Maybe do what they do in India and charge a £10 door fee just for access to the terminal but only if you are holding a valid airline ticket. Then charge extra for checking in at the airport, a baggage handling fee on top of what you've already paid, a security clearance fee, a boarding fee, a documents fee at the gate. The list is endless.

Manchester airport really is the only place left where you can still see people in shell suits. ...oh, I doubt it. I have a friend in Sheffield who often sends me links, not all humorous (not much to laugh about in Sheffield). Someone is/has been having fun. I'm sure some of the stories need an understanding of the background, but "Ageing Canklow Woman Has Twins" might apply to numerous places........ www.rotherhambugle.com/
