The tyre pressure monitor thingy popped up on the dash this morning. Clever little display showing all four tyres and their pressures. It had identified that one rear tyre was much lower than it should be. Now this car doesn't have a spare, not even a spacesaver, just a pump and a can of gloop.
It spends most of its time full of kit, and indeed on the motorway so discretion and valour were evaluated and I decided not just to pump it up and hope, but to take it in to a nearby Kwik Fit. I didn't have an appointment so it was a bit of a turn up and hope thing.
Couldn't have been easier in truth, nice guy took the keys from me, gave me a free cup of coffee, found a screw in the tyre, fixed it, and wouldn't take any money from me. All done and dusted in under 20 minutes.
It has been fashionable to knock the fast fit guys for many years but these were about as spot on as a spotty thing.

Most of the time the Kwik Fit in Bicester is just fine and the one in Cambridge is excellent. You just have to keep half an eye if they need to deal with anything out of the ordinary.

Not had much luck with them wheels has he, I tell you what, he'll be knocking the mirrors off next, you wait. In fact, I wonder if he has been deflecting the blame on the little squashy incidents.

Well, top marks to MB of York this morning too. Heading around the York ring road this morning a message appeared on the dash to the effect that I should take the car to a workshop to have the Adblue replenished. ( it has done 13000 miles without needing it ) Anyway the sat nag has a feature where it'll find the nearest MB dealer. Asked it to do that and it identified one 5 minutes away. Swung in, spoke to the absolutely drop dead gorgeous ( Rumanian as it turned out and she loves shoes... ) receptionist, and within 5 minutes they'd sorted it at no charge and nice shoe fan lady gave me a coffee and biscuits too.
Painless really.
