A GLC publicity film made c1984/5 about cycling in London and a puff for GLC's cycling policies/projects and, subliminally for the GLC itself - the keep GLC working for London ads on the buses date it to the period when abolition threatened.
Some of the stuff shown survives to today and is a reminder of how minor incremental changes can make a difference.
Mostly trad drop bar or sit/beg bikes and barely a helmet in sight.
Interest beyond cycling as a nostalgia trip to the vehicles, brands and shops of the time.
The GLC bloke riding the Paddington to Chelsea route is a doppelganger for yours truly at around that time.

Enjoyed that Bromp. I lived and worked in the Smoke in the early 80s. Had a rented room in a shared flat just off the Fulham Road ( Harwood Road near Fulham Broadway ) and worked in Wells St off Oxford St.
Drove in mostly, there was a car park on the roof of the office block. You took your car up in a lift. But also cycled in and back quite often. Used to pass the Michelin ( Bibendum ) building every day and even now use the meeting rooms in it if I'm meeting a customer in town. Was there yesterday actually.
