Holiday! Crikey, the most we've had out of Tesco vouchers in recent times is about £6 a quarter. So even if we saved them for the full two years validity, and doubled the lot at the end...well I can't be bothering with the arithmetic but I think it's an afternoon in Clacton at best.

I am sure I'm being dense, but I'm not quite grasping what an Echo Dot is, or indeed what it is for.
Can anybody help with a simple explanation?

My Echo has a new friend, called Harmony. Harmony knows all about the IR, wifi and Bluetooth entertainment devices that are a closed book to Echo. But Harmony will do things if Echo asks her right. This also requires me to ask Echo right: "Echo, ask Harmony to turn on Netflix." And then - because I spent an hour teaching Harmony the exact sequence of commands to issue - the TV, soundbar and PS3 click and whirr for a minute or so, and end up showing me my personal Netflix selection screen.
Of course, I can do the same thing by simply pressing Harmony's own buttons. Or, like I did last week, with Harmony's frumpy older sister and the separate Bluetooth remote she needed for the PS3 bit. But where's the progress in that?

Have you done the ‘personalization’ thing — presuming your car has the same system as mine? It takes about ten minutes, while you sit on your drive, wondering what the neighbours think you’re doing, and makes bugger-all difference.

No, I didn't realise you could do that, in fact there are several switches above my head in the roof panel in the car and some on the dash that I've not tried yet. I suppose they do something interesting. Still getting used to it really, I mean, I've only done 93,000 miles in it so far.
