Wow, Gert big storm here last night, dog was so scared she broke into out bedroom and hid under our bed. She seemed to sleep well there tho, I suspect its a ruse. Good job my dog's deaf now, would have sissed herself. Mucho thunder overnight here, children were quite spooked.

Slow but not too bad in the end. Being Friday probably helped, as did waiting for what morning rush there was to subside. The rain has pretty much stopped and less traffic kept the spray manageable. Less standing water then I'd feared too.
People on the M4 west past Maidenhead were not so fortunate, I think.

A main roundabout just outside Basingstoke on the A33 was flooded and closed this morning. I checked Google traffic before leaving home and it hadn't picked up on that problem so I ended up at the back of the queue near Hartley Wespall. Damn. I diverted down a country lane which occasionally goes single track, and lo and behold a bloody great truck had decided to do the same in the opposite direction and got stuck. Lots of people out of their cars shouting and pointing, took about 15 mins to work out how to get everyone through once the traffic in the other direction had decided to submit and climb up the embankments.
I expect it was a case of following satnavs without realising the road was so narrow. I had expected to get to work half an hour early today, but arrived just on time. Not that we're particularly clock watchy but I still like to arrive by 9.

Son #2 was meant to stay with mates over the weekend in the Smoke, but simply got an email saying train cancelled, here's your refund. Still, it keeps the soft MUFC supporters from darkening our doors.
