Was on the way to the Etihad last night for the Champions League game. At 5pm it started to rain nine miles north of the stadium as i was on the way home. As I was driving, I was seeing lightening and the rain got heavier. Got home at 6pm and it didn't stop....left at 7:10 for the game and still it was raining. Got to my usual parking place and as I was about to turn in, people were driving out. Game postponed £5 saved until tonight.
Can't remember I have seen such a quantity of rain over a sustained period of over two hours. 15 minutes yes, possibly 30 minutes, but two hours! Wow.
It was remarkable how well the pitch drained, but the road surrounding the stadium were waterlogged and I had to be vary careful not to drown my car. Anyway roll on the match tonight. Up the (Light) Blues! (all together now in a thick Manchester accent - Come on Citeh!)

The rain just kept coming down heavy for a long time last night didn't it. I've never seen rain sustained for that time in the UK before. Two neighbours had a few inches of water in their cellars - thankfully we didn't.
Original forecast in the morning didn't have rain for the evening. Then the BBC had a heavy shower down for seven. Well that was wrong.

Been lovely past two days, like the hight of summer. Makes up for the past few weekends, they've been poor weather wise.

Aircon's bust in the office. Lovely it ain't. Still, at least it'll be cold and rainy on Saturday. As per last Saturday.

Hot in Germany too, in one of whose indistinguishable suburbs I am tonight. Still, I went for a walk in the woods and saw a red squirrel, so it's not all dull.

Much drier tonight and over 25C in the stadium. 4-0!
Pity the rain and cold will return for the weekend. ...got to drive to Woburn Abbey on Sunday and back.

Yep, here too. About 0500 I woke from a dream involving a cobbled street and a huge industrial dustbin to find that the sound wasn't in my head.

Still hissing down here. I have to drive back towards Heathrow in half an hour, which may not be the most fun I've ever had. I have a choice of cars today, and I suspect the bus's Cross-climate tyres may be the better tool for the job than the chariot's cricket pitch rollers.

More concerned with the water that's already on the ground.
