There are moderators on the site, who may moderate to any standards as they wish. You can be sure that with certain subjects, like religion, Mods and Admin are going to sniffing around pretty closely, so make sure that when discussing it, you keep it objective, general and factual.
Moderators may or may not want to explain or discuss their moderation policies and decisions.
They can if they wish simply report or defer decisions to Admin. Admin just does things. You may not approve or like it, but there is no discussion with Admin.
