I couldn't bring myself to buy anything with that sort of fuel consumption now. It would just annoy me too much. Especially as you can't really use half the performance these days either without being imprisoned.

It would be different matter if it were a second car, doing only a couple of thousand miles a year. Which is what our Mazda does now, hence thoughts that I could replace it with something quite spectacular at little extra cost. I'd always need a sensible daily car.
Performance? There's no law against accelerating to the limit. I'm not much interested in driving much faster than the limit in any car. But I'd enjoy the 0-70 burst a bit more in an E500 than an Aygo. I might be tempted to visit the odd track for a laugh if I had an E500.

I love the S Class. A really great car and just my sort of thing. But the depreciation on a new one is enough to make you cry, and certainly more than I will pay.
If one follows that type of motoring all the time one can afford the miley ones, because if it goes wrong you just get shot.
I kind of agree on the light interior, but its not a biggie for me.

Now y'see, that's where we differ, I've become almost addicted to driving my son's little Aygo. So has my wife, in fact she's taken it to work today because it's such fun to throw down the country lanes on her commute. (It's a comfortingly narrower thing too before you lot start).
I love the rawness of the little car and the way you can just lob it around with your foot buried on the accelerator without ever getting too illegal.
I like wafty too, but I'd not buy a wafter to not use it much, wafters are for cosseting you on long runs in my book.

Wafters are also for wafting around the local countryside looking down upon people thrashing about in their little roller skates. They are for keeping you calm at 50 in a 60 because of the old folk in front.
They are to help you retain sanity when all around you is madness.

Thing is, I appreciate both. Having driven a C1 recently, I agree with you. But I can only have two cars. My daily has to be big enough for 4 plus baggage, and sensibly economical. Our second car can be anything. Merc E500 or Citroen C1? It's not really a contest, is it? Hmm. You may have a point. The E320 is wafty. Nippy run around for other uses is appealing. But in general I prefer a big old boat.
Now if I had a THIRD car, that could be something amusing and small and quirky, old Beetle or 2 CV or something.
Of course, when I'm in your position Humph and have older teenagers, I will have to have a C1-a-like on the fleet. Needs will then drive it.

I don't know how many miles I would drive a year now in the UK, perhaps 5,000 I guess. at 25mph and £1.20 that's £250 per year. Did you say in C4P that you were getting 50mpg? So I would save £125 per year.
£2.20 a week? DGAF.
I quite see why it matters on interstellar mileages but I don't do those. And my Landcruiser does a darn sight less than that when I'm plonking around the mountains. Hold on, I'll go and have a look at the trip and tell you...

16mpg over the last 1,000 miles but that's the plastic POS which lives in town mostly. The other s out at the moment.

Not sure about your maths there. 5000 miles at 25mpg is 200 gallons or at 50 mpg is 100 gallons. If you can get 100 gallons for £125 do let me have the address of the petrol station when you have a minute !

You've got two Landcruisers, right? One plastic PoS, and another, better one. Have I got that right?
Could you post links to pictures of each model (not necessarily your exact cars, but examples of the same models), I'm struggling to understand which version of the LC would be a plastic PoS and which wouldn't, as my impression of Lancruisers is generally one of solid, well made vehicles.

I will dig out some photos. However, on the POS the following is/are plastic..
All 4 wheel arches Trim on the bottom 10" of the doors Front and rear bumpers/trim all the way wrapped around the wings The grille and surrounds Light surrounding trim Trim on rear door
On the other Landcruiser there is no plastic. Its even got metal bumpers.
So on the POS if you knock something or it gets knocked, it bends, breaks and falls off , or at least it comes loose because they're all held on with plastic clips. To repair it you buy a new entire end of the car.
On the real one it might dent a bit and you can either ignore it, knock it out, fill it or buy just that piece and bolt it in.
I'll go see if I can find photos.

I just meant some internet links to pictures of cars of the same model - didn't mean you to go off on a hunting/scanning frenzy for pictures of your own actual vehicles. There are many varied models of LC, probably quite a few which I will never have seen in the UK.
