From Sunday all new cars in the EU and NI must have a permanent warning when going above the speed limit. It is annoying but no doubt it is not a bad idea.
The problem occurs to me that speed measuring devices are not as accurate as the bureaucrats would like to think. My car which is obviously very modern and stuffed full of all sorts of tech, can read speed limit signs and adjust the speed of the car to the current speed limit.
All well and good but when I check the speed of the car against several GPS devices it always driving slower than the claimed speed on the dashboard. This is less on an issue in the urban environment but at motorway speeds, you will end up with two cars, both on cruise control at 70mpg behaving like lorries, and one taking two miles to overtake another.

"Think of the cheeldren !"
Motoring Nirvana or Utopia will have been reached depending on your perspective.
With a 70mph motorway limit, elephant racing should always have existed. It didn't because some were a bit more equal than others.
It's going to be a challenge for blue lights now. Few people use their rear view mirrors as it is, now they don't have to. If they are driving at 70 no one will be driving faster will be the logic therefore, no need to check, more Facebook and Instagram time.
