I notice there are fairly good deals on Autotrader for various EVs, e.g. £22.5k for an IONIQ 5 Ultimate 73kWh seems good for a 71 plate.... But it's done nearly 55,000 miles. Depreciated a bit. This was not a main dealer of course.
Now when buying second hand ICE vehicles some might be deterred by high mileage on a young car but then others would say that's okay as long as maintained because those miles would be on a motorway.
But for an EV with rapid DC charging, high miles could mean lots of rapid charging. It could mean it has been used from 100% to nearly empty a lot... So batteries will have degraded a bit. If charged on an AC charger at home then lots of charging not such a problem even if charged above 80%. I believe part of the problem is the heat cycles involved when using DC charging at high voltage.
I'm not after a car as big as an IONIQ 5...

I'd want to see a battery report which should be on each main dealer service report - it is from KIA.
Not sure how you would get access to such a report from a used car dealership. Some may not have the paperwork, GDPR provides others the excuse not to share the information.

oh I don't know.
When I bouhgt my Merc in 2015, I took the reg to my local Merc dealer and they printed out an anonymised service report. I bet Kia/Hyundai would do the same. It helps if the car has been through the dealer network which I assume a 71 plate I5 would have done.
For what its worth my 2022 I5 with 19,500 miles had a 100% battery in January. And I have done a reasonable amount of ultra fast charging including in very hot weather.

I'm not sure the south Koreans have a digitised service history system. Nothing suggests they do in the app, I can view the service history of my Ford in the app.

Maybe not in the app but in the dealers they had a record of every Merc that had been through the dealer network for servicing.

That's true of Mercedes, BMW, Volvo and Ford.
I don't get an electronic copy or access to the service history of our KIA that way and have not signed any paperwork authorising it.
I know Nissan were looking to do it, don't know if it got off the ground or not.
