Stoke's ok, I used to have to visit a radio station there.. I had a gorgeous girlfriend who lived in Derby, it was also ok. What was the club called? Pink Coconut, I think.
I don't think I've ever been to Gillingham.

I had a girlfriend in Orpington once. Really bloody awful place, albeit I admit she lived down the arse end of town.

Basingstoke was the first place I ever drove on my own after I passed my test. I was working there and living in Mortimer. I had to drive home, on Christmas Eve or at least the last working day before Christmas, after work at about 6pm, in teh dark, on the old winding A33, in the snow and ice. I drove at about 20mph, scared shitless, with a very long line of irritated drivers behind me on a road and in conditions where overtaking was impossible, unable to see a thing and desperate.
But in those days Basingstoke was ok, and I worked in the old bit. Many years later when I worked in Basingstoke again in the Digital building, in the months before it burned down, Basingstoke had deteriorated quite a lot.
I was last in Basingstoke about 6 years ago. You have a point; Special.
