A friend has recommended that I invest in an inflatable tent. He and his wife share our interest in mountain biking and spent a chunk of last summer touring around Europe in their little van finding places to bike. He says the best thing they took was an inflatable tent. Pitches in about 20 minutes apparently. Like this… www.gooutdoors.co.uk/16537530/berghaus-air-400xl-nightfall-tent-16537530Just in case you need one. 😉

Did you look at the dimensions? 5m x 3m, excluding the porch! Presumably inflating that depends on running your SUV’s diesel engine while a compressor does the work. So much for the tranquillity of the great outdoors!

Yeah, true, but it’d be abroad in the main so it wouldn’t matter would it. 😉

5m long by 3m wide by 2m high. If the weather was really bad you could use it as a garage and sleep in the car.

Yeah, that one might be a bit big. They do a smaller version I see.

SWMBO purchased an inflatable kayak last year. That didn’t go down too well. Or rather it did…

I think the Khyam we had when the kids were growing was of that sort of size. Very occasionally it was a tight fit on a French pitch and getting the guy lines sorted was an issue but for the most part it was fine.

We’re just thinking of something that could be used for short breaks, or indeed for extending longer ones. As in longer road trips combining a variety of accommodation and activities.

Just seems like it would add some flexibility to our options.
