Hmmm, MX5s are quite reasonably priced… Not that I’m in any rush or looking for one… Just musing really…

They say the 1.5 litre MX-5 is a better drive than the 2.0 because of the lighter engine.

Quite sensible on fuel too, if for example someone with all the time in the world was going to take it on a long European road trip… 🤔

…he’d want a Mercedes SL.
But we already know which Jazz he needs to avoid.

You know what are way cheaper than I’d have imagined? E Class convertibles. Just not sure about them for reasons I can’t quite define.

They're C Class convertibles with E Class badges, aren't they?

Dunno, they seem pretty similar to my car in general layout. Just a bit golf club for my taste I feel.

Vić is right, I think. It has a shorter wheelbase than an E saloon and has more in common with the C. Quite likely that it won’t be as nice to travel in as the E you already have.

See, I think that’s just awful, whatever it’s based on. And a four-cylinder diesel in a convertible…?

Ooo, brown.
Hmm, maybe it was the previous generation which was essentially a C Class, this one does look a bit more E Class in terms of interior. Perhaps these are a bit of an E/C cut'n'shut?
But anyway. Diesel convertible. Ick.

Nope, that’s the C-class one. They’ve given it the fussy rear wheel bulges to tie it to the saloon but they’re purely cosmetic. The C220 CDI of that era is a hateful, tractory thing.
